Concrete Justice: Homestead Instead

Join the City Congregation for Humanist Judaism for their Sixth Annual Forum Theatre Play presented by Theatre of the Oppressed NYC. This year’s show, “Homestead Instead: Reclaiming the Dream”, will be created and performed by members of the Concrete Justice Troupe. The play is based on real-life experiences of the actors and addresses issues of homelessness, gentrification, and homesteading.

Theatre of the Oppressed is an interactive methodology that is used to investigate situations in which cast members have been denied their basic rights, personally and collectively. In the rehearsal and development stage, the cast shares and combines their real-life stories into original plays. The result is a “forum theatre” performance in which the scenes ask a question of the audience, and the audience (or “spect-actors”) intervene in the action to try out various alternatives to the problems.

A donation of $10 will be appreciated to help defray costs and support the work of the 13th Street Housing Works Theatre Troupe. The public is welcome to this free performance.

Sixth and seventh graders and their parents come to the Social Hall for a wonderful performance of Theatre of the Oppressed NYC. This is also open to the community.
