The Wildcard Workbook: A Practical Guide for Jokering Forum Theatre is a resource for facilitators of all kinds looking for new ways to bring fun, creativity, and critical thinking into their work! Why Wildcard? Because to be a "Joker" in the Theatre of the Oppressed is to play many different roles and to navigate uncertainty with joy. Written by experienced Jokers from Theatre of the Oppressed NYC (TONYC), this workbook is a graphic, interactive, and accessible guide to inspire and support facilitation and difficultation in many contexts – we hope you'll scribble in the margins, tear out the pages, and challenge the ideas within.

Written by Sulu LeoNimm, Liz Morgan, and Katy Rubin. Created in collaboration with the Center for Urban Pedagogy (CUP) and design by Shreyas R Krishnan and Kruttika Susarla of SAME SAME BUT DIFFERENT. Made with financial support from the New York Community Trust.

**UPDATE** As of June 2025, Theatre of the Oppressed NYC will make The Wildcard Workbook available for purchase (print and digital). From publishing this in 2022, we have provided over 2000 free copies via digital download. In the past two years as institutional grants have become harder to access and inflation has increased all expenses, we have had to reduce our organizational budget by 57% percent. The update to provide our book via purchase is one of a few options we are exploring towards stablizing our programs with sustaining income. A link to purchase will be available in the coming months. Please write to [email protected] with any inquiries.
