TONYC at the #FairFares Rally and City Council Hearing!

On Monday, February 13th, TONYC took part in the #FairFares rally and city council hearing with Riders Alliance NY and many other organizations to advocate half price transportation for low income New Yorkers.

 

There was a great turnout and a ton of press, and there were many powerful speakers at the rally and at the hearing who made their voices heard about this important topic.

Members of our TONYC team, Maaji, Letitia, and Katy attended the rally and city council hearing. Maaji spoke at the press conference, and was interviewed by NY1 and Daily News, and both Maaji and Letitia met up with Public Advocate Tish James at the rally. Actors fromTONYC also made a statement at the city council hearing by acting out what it's like to beg for a swipe at a subway station. It was a successful event, and we are looking forward to seeing legislation passed on this subject soon! Here are some photos of the rally and the hearing:
