This year's With One Voice (WOV) International Arts and Homelessness Summit 2018 introduced 250 delegates from 15 countries and dozens of organizations. We all joined up in Manchester, England from November 14-18 - I was excited to be there along with Katy. The program was full of events, including performances, gallery exhibits, talks, workshops, breakout groups, open mics, and tours.

November 1, 2018 was truly inspiring. We workshopped policies, we discussed amendments, we voted, and now we're focusing on ways to follow up. If you’ve had any other ideas, especially after this tight but equally inspiring election!, feel free to write Diamond and let her know! We'll be working with our Policy Rangers over the next few months on what tangible actions we can all take to make this creative brainstorm a reality.

We here at TONYC try to keep our facilitation skills sharp and our community ties strong. Resident Joker Mike reflects on his experience going through our latest summer training.

I am so grateful to have been able to participate in the ToolBox TuneUp workshops this summer. I appreciate the expertise that each facilitator shared with us, the various aspects of Jokering that were covered in such great detail and the opportunity share ideas, questions, laughter and techniques for better communication with one another so that we can continue to develop our craft...

The TONYC Team and I are thrilled to announce Theatre of the Oppressed NYC’s new Executive Director: Meggan Gomez!

Meggan is a theatre-maker, advocate and activist. Her work and career have been shaped by the power of Theatre of the Oppressed, which she first experienced 13 years ago. She comes to TONYC from her role as the Theater Conservatory Director at Working Classroom in Albuquerque, New Mexico, which uses the arts to resist systemic injustices and imagine a more equitable society. Meggan’s affiliations include Cornerstone Theater and The Hemispheric Institute of Performance and Politics. Meggan is also on the steering committee of the Latinx Theater Commons, where she helps lead national efforts to expand opportunities for Latinx playwrights and theater artists.
