Spect-Actor Action Steps, 6/28/2016

Jun. 29, 2016

Last night, we gathered at La MaMa ETC for not one, but TWO brand new interactive plays by the Concrete Justice and Sunset Park troupes! The actors tackled everything from gentrification, eviction, and homesteading to racism, violence, and bullying in schools.

We had such a vibrant crowd and some really great ideas during the forum. Check out spect-actor Eva insisting on a bed to sleep after being ignored end neglected by a case manager, and Leon calling upon a guidance counselor for help after he wasn't receiving the support he needed from his family.

Resources noted by our spect-actors included Tenant's Right to Counsel, calling 311 in the event of unlawful rent hikesprograms through Ackerman Institute for the Family, and tools for youth to be active bystanders from I Am A Witness. Do you have a resource that wasn't mentioned at the show?
